North Melbourne vs Sydney at MARVEL Stadium (NM -10.5, 139.5)

Collingwood vs St Kilda at the MCG (COL -14.5, 123.5)

Geelong vs Carlton at GMHBA (GEE -27.5, 130.5)

Brisbane vs West Coast at the GABBA (BRI -2.5, 136.5)

Where to Attack

The Magpies look to be the team to target with defenders on this slate. They have conceded 75 points per game to their opponents top 3 scorers through 2 games this season, which is the 5th highest mark in the league. The trend is consistent with last year and St Kilda backs had a day out last week against the Bulldogs.

West Coast have been well and truly exposed through the midfield to start this season. This is a small trend and stark turn around from last season when the Eagles were one of the tougher teams to score against. On this slate, however, they have another tough game in their Queenlsand hub against the Lions in what will likely be dewy slippery conditions, which has been their nemicious during this run.

The stand out matchup for the ruck position is Geelong vs Carlton with both teams giving up 77 points per game to the oppositions number 1 ruck. Down at the Cattery Rhys Stanley should get on top and he looked in great form in the first game back from the COVID-19 break last week.

VALUE PLAYS

Archie Smith (DS $5,340, DK $2,500)

We have to highlight him as there is limited value on this slate and he will likely play over 50% of his time in the ruck. In his two games last season he managed 57 points (from 23 hit outs) and 35 points (from just 14 hit outs). In both games he was splitting time with Stefan Martin, but playing with the big O again will likely mean Archie sees more time in the ruck. It isn't an ideal matchup and there is some merit to a fade, however to get those extra savings he is a solid option.

Callum Ah Chee (DS $8,100, DK $4,500) / Brandon Starcevich (DS $7,370, DK $3,800)

The two new spark plugs off the half back for the Lions both showed last week that they can return value at their prices points. With Witherden sent back to the scratch matches there is more opportunity across half back and each of these youngsters took advantage last week.

MID PRICED PLAYS

Quinton Narkle (DS $9,700 DK $5,700)

With Parfitt now out of the Cats side due to an injury, this opens up more potential for Narkle to spend in the middle. His Draftstars price only rose slightly after his 79 fantasy point effort against the Hawks. With the Blues allowing 8 Demon midfielders to score 60+ in round 2, this is a perfect opportunity for "Sparkle" to build on last week.

Jy Simpkin (DS $11,820, DK $6,300)

Jy is another breakout player who we can still take advantage of his price given his new role this season. He continued on playing through the middle last week with 17 centre bounce attendances behind only Goldsetin and Cunnington. I will continued to ride home the Simpkin train until the price starts pushing up into the premium range. So far this year he has returned an average of 80 points through 2 games and on this slate he returns home to Marvel stadium in a game where North Melbourne are favoured.

Oliver Florent (DS $11,430, DK $5,800)

Let’s go one more time with the young bloods! Florent was sensational last week against the Bombers notching up 90 fantasy points, bringing the average to 80 per game on the season. He is playing as part of the big three for the Swans through the middle this year with 19 centre bounce attendances last week, on par with Josh Kennedy and Luke Parker. With the lack of value on this slate I will be looking for a much more balanced lineup that will include a number of these mid price range selections.

Joel Selwood (DS $12,490, DK $7,800)

No player might have benefited from the COVID-19 lay off than Joel Selwood. Last year he was really startling to look like the end was near as he spent the majority of the season lurking around the wings and protecting the body. However, to start 2020 he has really resembled the prime years Selwood and he has been unleashed back into his regular inside role with 19 centre bounce attendances and 97 fantasy points last week against the Hawks. This matchup is ideal against the Blues as noted above and particularly down at the Cattery. Geelong stacks will be the flavour of the slate and mine will all feature Selwood. Word of warning however, his price on DraftKings is on the high side.

PREMIUM PLAYS

Lachie Neale (DS $16,160, DK $8,100)

This pricing is getting up there, especially in the shortened games. He may also be difficult to squeeze in without more value opening up. That said, I really expect the Lions to demolish the Eagles on this slate. With West Coast’s new addition to the midfield in Tim Kelly they are no longer looking to use Hutchins as a tagger, so Neale should expect to run riot and looks to be arguably the safest 100+ point scorer in this new game environment.

TEAM STACK - Geelong Cats

An obvious choice as just under 5 goal favourites down at the friendly confines of the tip vs one of the worst teams in the league. The Blues were one of the easiest teams to score fantasy points against in 2019 and should get absolutely decimated on this ground.
