Richmond vs Port Adelaide at the MCG (RIC -11.5, 158.5)

Weather

Light showers during the morning and afternoon but not enough to impact a night game. As always monitor the conditions close to the first bounce but I think we can select our teams without concern for this matchup.

Where to Attack?

Positions don’t stand out with clear areas to attack, however from the numbers we can see that Richmond concede the 6th most disposals in the league while Port Adelaide love to accumulate the football racking up the 7th most touches this season and the fourth most uncontested marks. I will be looking for Port stacks on this slate.

Game Script – Port Adelaide backs and midfielders

VALUE PLAYS

Jeremy Finlayson ($8,750) has been named in the ruck for this round with the Power dropping you Sam Hayes. This is an bit of head scratching decision and you might also want to consider playing Charlie Dixon who is another option to play the role. Either way whoever takes the main ruck position for the Power should rack up fantasy points, particularly around the ground. Finlayson has shown ability to hit 10x up forward at this price, so the extra opportunity in the ruck would be a gold mine for his fantasy scoring.

Shane Edwards ($7,770) has dipped his toe back into the midfield ever so slightly during the last few weeks and managed to produce back to back 10x scores at his current price point.

MID PRICED PLAYS

Liam Baker ($9,720) has experienced a role change with the Tigers during the last three round, shifting to half back - a role he played at times last year. This has resulted in three straight scores of 88, 111 and 71. His price point is still too cheap for this new role, and while I am not that big on Tiger's backs in this matchup, Baker's stands out as great value and linking him with Short could be an option.

Connor Rozee ($11,340) has been spending about 50% of the game in the midfield in recent weeks and he has shown the ability to post huge scores in the role. He has posted three games of 113+ from the last 7 weeks, which indicates he is a bit hit and miss, but when he does hit that ceiling game it is a tournament winning score at his current price point.

PREMIUM PLAYS

Ollie Wines ($15,360) is the premium midfielder I will be rostering for the Power on this slate. While the Tigers do give up plenty of possessions, they do restrict uncontested marks to a degree, which makes me lean to Wines as the more inside player. Wines has been up and down this season, but has posted two 100+ point games from the last three weeks and has a solid history against the Tigers (104ppg from his last 7 against them) and at the MCG (100+ point games from his last 2 on the ground).
