Gold Coast vs Adelaide at Metricon Stadium (Gold Coast -28.5, 164.5)
There is a chance of showers at Metricon Stadium on Sunday so it is worth keeping an eye on conditions as game time approaches. For the purpose of this preview, I am going to assume dry conditions.
Where to Attack?
Let's take a closer look at our AFL Data Tools to find any trends that might help us construct winning lineups on Draftstars for this match.
Adelaide have given up the second most points to backs in the last five rounds, conceding to a variety of defenders. As such, Gold Coast backs will be on the radar here.
Midfielders have traditionally fared well against the Gold Coast, however the established trio of Touk Miller, Noah Anderson and Matt Rowell has managed to contain rivals better in recent times. Nevertheless, the likes of Rory Laird and Ben Keays will fancy themselves for big games.
Sean Lemmens ($7,750)
The devastating injury to Lachie Weller will create opportunities for other running Gold Coast backs to step up to the plate, of which Lemmens is one. The experienced campaigner has averaged 82 in his last three matches and gets a good matchup this week.
Jake Soligo ($6,900)
Soligo has made a strong start to his career at the Crows, gathering plenty of the ball in an outside role. The youngster has not scored below 59 in his last four matches and should push value here.
Brandon Ellis ($11,260)
Ellis could be another beneficiary of Weller’s misfortune, helping the Suns to distribute the ball from the back half. The former Tiger has hit the ton in his last two games against Adelaide and has averaged 81 in 2022.
Rory Laird ($16,590)
It’s hard to look past Rory Laird as a stud selection in this encounter. Leading the Crows midfield, Laird has averaged 112 and gone under triple figures just three times so far this year. He has strong history against the Suns and will be left to roam free on Sunday.
