As the Victorian based teams pack up and hit ‘hub’ life, us Daily Fantasy players don’t seem to care who plays whom! It was a massive weekend for both sites on Draftstars & DraftKings which awarded many winners on the weekend.

Before we take a look at the AFL winners, we want to give a special shoutout to number 6 ranked Australian player ‘jbarrett16’ who during the week took out the League of Legends ‘Dragon Slayer’ contest for a $100,000 USD win! JB won tickets to the $555 entry contest through satellites so he had a couple of goes at the absurd 1st prize. JB is on the record that the girlfriend is getting a new car for the midweek result. Greats JB! Life changing win!

Let's have a look at the key players from Round 5.

Stud Watch

Max Gawn (131): The Tigers rucks didn’t stand a chance with Gawn dominating the Hit Outs (33) but Gawn’s 6 tackles boosted his score to be the best of round 5. Tough to take if you didn’t take the $17K (DS) or 9K (DK) price tags that were on offer.

Damn it! Missed him

Dom Sheed (111): 8% on Draftstars and 2.3% on DraftKings once Luke Shuey went down with a hamstring injury, it would have been deflating to have zero Sheed in your lineups. 24 possessions with 10 marks in his 111 FP score.

GPP Winning play

Tim English (99): 5% on Draftstars and 1.6% on DraftKings. No one gave English a chance against North Melbourne’s Todd Goldstein. However you don’t need to win the Hit Outs to contribute in fantasy. 24 possessions, 8 marks and 2 tackles for English as he appeared in both Draftstars and DraftKings winning lineups on Saturday.

How good is chalk!

Brodie Grundy (113): At 65+% on both sites (single contests mind you), Grundy was his usual best on Friday night and paid off the expensive price tag. Andrew Philips (60FP) did battle on but the chalk hit on Friday night.

Oh dearly me…

Bradley Hill (31) left a stack of owners questioning why we couldn’t see him with the ball on Thursday night. Justin Westhoff (20) with his Port teammates all had an off night. Bachar Houli (59) couldn’t get going against the Demons, despite the peach of a matchup.

Injury affected scores included Matt Rowell (0), Luke Shuey (19) and Bailey Smith (1). These three weren’t that owned in main slates but were highly owned in single contests.

It all kicked off Thursday with the Saints defeating the Blues at Marvel. Both sites continue posting huge contests.

Draftstars went huge with a $75,000 contest for only a $15 entry and just under 6150 entries battled it out for the $8,900 prize. 'Argonauts' had Liam Jones of all players in the winning lineup as he took 11 marks in his once in a blue moon performance.

DraftKings posted a $50,000 USD contest with a crazy $10,000 USD 1st prize! Over 3,400+ entries were entered (for a massive overlay) with US player ‘lukegatis’ sneaking home to take the win.

On Friday the Bombers got on top of the Magpies in the wet at the MCG and Draftstars went massive with a $100,000 contest! Brodie Grundy was super popular on this slate and put in another workmanlike performance. At DFR, we love Single Bullet wins and for ‘Geffers’ he/she won in a canter for a $10,000 winning performance!

Over at DraftKings it was Australian DFS GOAT ‘jayk123’ who finally took his 1st win of the AFL campaign taking out 1st place in the $50,000 USD Sticks ($10,000 to 1st). Jay has been close on both sites since the resumption but finally broke through on Friday Night.

The 4 game slate on Saturday for the AFL was a huge day as the entries piled into DraftKings and Draftstars. While the results on the scoreboard were one-sided, this didn’t matter for ‘Johnnysox’ who took out the $75,000 feature on Draftstars for $8,800+ winnings.

Over at DraftKings a very contraianan lineup from ‘8long’ stormed home on the back of Tim English’s performance. $10,000 USD win was clearly the best of the day!

Sunday was an anticipated three game slate with DraftKings providing a variety of contests. On DraftKings DFR top 10 ranked player ‘Clangers’ (Cottmaa) had a day out filling out multiple top finishes including 1st place for $5,000+ USD in winnings.

On Draftstars DFR member ‘hillyj7’ had the biggest win of his career when he took out the Sunday $60,000 for a collection of just under $8,000 in prize money! The Giants were the key in the big win for Hilly!

Congratulations to all winners from the weekend and we hope that all members and participants are enjoying the offerings from both Daily Fantasy sites. Keep it locked in on DFR throughout the week as we will provide future previews for all slates and all the news you need for your DFS play.
