The Everest

One of the marquee racing days of the Spring has arrived with the running of the 2018 Everest set to capture the attention of the racing world this Saturday at Randwick. The richest horse race in the country will see 12 of the finest weight-for-age horses come together to battle over 1200 metres for a share of the $13 million in prize money.

There’s the regular racing offerings at TopBetta and Moneyball this Saturday, but SportChamps are again throwing their weight behind the Spring racing carnival with two massive racing tournaments of Everest-like proportions.

There’s a tournament dedicated to Everest Day with a big $20,000 prize pool guarantee and all ten big races from Randwick included.  Or if you prefer to punt in Melbourne, it’s Caulfield Guineas Day and a cracking ten-race card will offer SportChamps players another $20,000 prize pool to compete for. Entry for both tournaments is just $50!

Combined with other tournaments running every hour throughout the day, there’s over $50,000 in prize money to be won at SportChamps this Saturday!

To help you in your tournaments, we’ve taken a look at the cards for both Caulfield and Randwick and found our best bets of the day.

Get your Caulfield tournaments off to a strong start by throwing your money behind Iconoclasm in Race 2 at 12:45pm. He is a talented horse who was disappointing as a last-start favourite after he was discovered to have a throat issue. Maps to get a nice run here and you’re getting a nice price to give him another chance. You’re getting juicy odds of $5.00 to win at Neds, or for a safer tournament play, why not bank a place bet with current odds of $1.90 to place at Sportsbet.

The feature race is the Caulfield Guineas which is Race 9 at 5:15pm. Hopefully by this point you have a decent bank accumulated as The Autumn Sun looks like the banker bet of the day.  After a brilliant win in the G1 Golden Rose, The Autumn Sun is the short-priced favourite here, but looks the goods at $2.05 at PointsBet. Lock that into your multis!

Neds

Over at Randwick, and a lot will depend on the weather here. If the rain hits we could be looking at a heavy track, otherwise we can expect something in the soft range. It makes tipping winners tough, but there are a couple we like in Race 4 at 2:15pm. The resuming Stampede looks a great each-way play. With three placings from three starts on heavy track, Stampede should be controlling the speed and could provide some value if there’s some weather around. You can get $7.50 for the win, while a place option could be considered for your tournaments with $2.50 the place available at BetEasy. Kaonic is the horse to beat in that race and looks well-placed, especially if it’s a little drier than expected. Definitely like a two-horse strategy in this race and you can back Kaonic at $3.80 at Pointsbet.

The Everest is Race 7 on the card and will kick off at 4:15pm. It’s a really tough race to call and you could make a case for just about every horse in the race. The market has Redzel a narrow favourite at $7.50 at PointsBet, ahead of Shoals and Vega Magic. I think you have to resist the urge to tackle this one in your tournaments, but if you do get it right, you’ll get plenty of value.

The best bet of the day from Randwick appears to be Egg Tart in Race 8 over the 2000 metres. There are some useful types in this field, but Egg Tart looks to be peaking nicely and has a perfect record on wet tracks. Has drawn to the inside but if Egg Tart can find some clean air, should be coming over the top of them to give punters a nice winner at $3.50 at PointsBet.

Good luck on Saturday and let’s see plenty of DFR players bring home a share of the $50,000 in prizes at SportChamps!
