Fantasy Horse Racing Tips: Saturday May 4th 2019
After a couple of upside-down weeks with public holidays taking place, normality seems restored as many of the southern trainers look to head west to Adelaide or north to Brisbane for some winter prize money. This weekend South Australia takes centre stage as racing heads to Morphettville for the Group 1 Australasian Oaks and Sangster Stakes. The track is currently a Soft 5 with rain expected for the remainder of Friday. The track should play quite evenly throughout the card, but winners may come from out wide later in the day. Meanwhile, many of the Brisbane carnival aspirants will head to the Gold Coast as they look to kick off their campaigns in the Group 2 Hollindale Stakes. Currently a Soft 5, light rain is expected heading into the weekend, and much like Morphettville, it should play evenly with runners to come from wide later in the day.
SportChamps is the leading provider of fantasy horse racing tournaments and they offer a range of tournaments to suit all budgets. Their major tournaments are run on a Saturday with rebuy and no-rebuy options across the major metropolitan venues. This Saturday there is a $10,000 guaranteed tournament covering the metro meetings for $50 entry with 1 rebuy. For those that are time-poor or are looking for an early win, they run consecutive hour-long tournaments across a range of races, spanning all 3 codes as they carry on later into the night. They also offer free entry tournaments, giving those new to fantasy tournaments an excellent chance to get the hang of it without any financial risk.
Moneyball and TopBetta also offer a vast range of tournaments, albeit slender rule variations, there is still plenty of prize money up for grabs. Despite the slightly smaller fields, options are a plenty for those wanting to play tournaments and we recommend you try out the different sites and options to find out which ones work for you. So if you are still in public holiday mode and time isn’t on your side, we have assembled our best bets to give you an excellent opportunity, including our main chances at both feature Morphettville and Gold Coast meetings.
11:40am – Randwick Race 1 – #Theraces Maiden Handicap – 1000m
Looking to kick the day off in style with talented juvenile, Spaceboy. After impressive performances in the Golden Gift and the Wyong Millions last summer, the Gary Portelli trained colt was spelled ahead of a potential autumn campaign. In preparation for his first-up run, Spaceboy was sent to the trials where he was ultra-impressive, showing plenty of ability when asked for an effort. Expect Robbie Dolan to find the front on the Kensington circuit and give this lot wind burn as they fly down the straight. A few unknowns with a bunch of debutants and very little races between them, sire Deep Field has had plenty of great progeny already in his stud career and this could quite well be the cream of the crop resuming here. Currently you can get $2.70 for Spaceboy at Neds.
12:15pm – Randwick Race 2 – Events By ATC (BM78) – 1000m
Either it’s rebuy time or time to continue building on that bank but the second at Randwick has another interesting horse at the top of the market in Heart Conquered. Resuming after a 118-day break over the sprint trip of 1000m, the Akeed Mofeed gelding looked outstanding at the trials, striding along nicely under a good hold. With bigger tasks on the card up in Brisbane, the Hawkes trained runner will look to find the lead early under Billy Owen’s 3kg claim and give them windburn as the enter the straight. With a terrific record both fresh and over the trip, the stable decided to scratch him from the Bat Out of Hell (What a name!) up in Brisbane to tackle the easy kill at Randwick. Currently you can get $2.15 for Heart Conquered at BetEasy.
3:50pm – Gold Coast Race 8 – TAB A.D. Hollindale Stakes – 1800m
I was always find races over this sort of trip very interesting as you quite often get a mix of milers and stayers in the one contest. After putting the pen through most of the favourites, Mister Sea Wolf looks an excellent chance from the Waller yard. The 7yo gelding was impressive resuming, beating a handy field in the Doncaster Prelude which has proven to be a solid form line. With the track starting to get a little loose under foot, that will play into his chances nicely as he loves the sting out of the ground and looks to have plenty of upside. He has since trialled up nicely and although James McDonald will need some luck early from the draw, if he is afforded a comfortable run, he will be tough to hold out down the straight. Currently you can get $7.00 for Mister Sea Wolf at Pointsbet.
4:36pm – Morphettville Race 7 – TAB Classic Sangster Stakes – 1200m
Always an interesting race, the girls sprint for $600k with plenty of different form lines all culminating over the 1200m at Morphettville. I am potting a few here, but Jamaican Rain for the Lamming stable ticks a lot of boxes here and should get a very nice run in transit. The Manhattan Rain mare drops back in distance where she has relished previously, but more importantly comes into this off a nice freshen-up. Perfect in four starts fresh, Craig Williams jumps back on board and will look to dictate the tempo early, causing headaches for those back in the pack. Although she has plenty of upside, if the rain comes, that will only play into Jamaican Rain’s chances even more and she will prove difficult to beat. Currently you can get $7.00 for Jamaican Rain at Sportsbet.
