Trinity Golf course

The PGA Tour goes to the Trinity Forest Golf Club in Dallas Texas for the AT&T Byron Nelson tournament. Trinity Forest is night and day from any other venue on tour. A windswept, nearly treeless expanse of dunes, waving prairie grass, and fast, undulating turf, the course has every attribute of a links course except the marine life of birds and oceans. The Par 71 course measures 7,492 yards where the fairways are wide, the greens are large. But these fairways are very undulating, and the greens can be tough to putt on from outside 10 feet. Rain though this week has taken the sting out of this links course which means the fairways will play shorter and greens will be more receptive. 14 out of the top 50 players on the tour are here which is a bit thin before the PGA Championship at Bethpage next week.

According to rotogrinders.com the top 5 statistics to look for this week include:

Order of Importance

The home for DFS golf is at Draftkings where a $500,000 Drive the Green contest is available at a $5 entry. Draftstars have posted a $8,000 contest for a $15 buy-in

I posted on twitter earlier this week regarding the salaries on Draftstars and open the “tweeter lines” for feedback:

Whilst I am not claiming, nor others commenting for the change either, but having the mid-tier golfers at a salary which means they are actually “mid-tier” is a great change and I applaud Draftstars for the “refinement”. So we have no excuse for not entering into this week’s contests!

So let’s have a look at who we should target at the AT&T Byron Nelson:

Hideki Matsuyama ($11,000 DK $22,400 DS ) - Whilst I would love to write up about my man Brooks Koepka, I believe he has his mind on Bethpage next week than the rolling fairways of Trinity Forest. But I really like Matsuyama here this week. Long of the tee and is currently ranked number 1 in the field for Strokes Gained Tee to Green. Played the course last year for a T16 and with a weaker field, no better time to break through and grab that W.

Aaron Wise ($9,400 DK $19,990 DS) - Wise is the defending champion after blitzing the field last year on a master clinic in putting. After that win, he missed five straight and six of his next seven cuts which just proves his inconsistency but huge upside. In 22 events since that career-changing win, Wise has made just 12 cuts but has three Top 10's and nine Top 25 finishes including two straight at the Masters and last week's Wells Fargo Championship. Boom or bust and ideal for GPP’s.

Keith Mitchell ($9,100 DK $18,500 DS) - With a T3 last year and a win on the tour this year at PGA National, Mitchell is having a great year on the tour with a T6 at Bay Hill and T8 at Quail Hollow. Ranked 1st in the field for Strokes Gained off the Tee and 2nd in the field for Approach, Mitchell is going to be a very popular play amongst the sites - Over 20% ownership on DK I believe. No issues if you use Mitchell as your number 1 for balanced line-ups.

Adam Schnek ($7,000 DK $15,900 DS ) - I mentioned Schnek as a Draftstar value player and Adam certainty awarded players with a great result at Quail Hollow. Sure he gets a bump at the DS salary but at the his DK price, Schnek is great value. The PGA.com website states he is second on tour for rounds under par (45) and is ranked 10th in the field this week for SG- Total.

Nate Lashley ($6,200 DK $9,100 DS) - I will mention Lashley again this week after a great result at his cheap salary. Sure a final round 74 curbed his final round scoring but we can’t get away the salary being posted by sites this week. This course is going to give up a lot of birdies and having cheap guys like Lashley will unlock the premium plays on the slate.

Tony Romo ($6,000 DK $8,000 DS) - Please do not click on Tony’s name. Romo yes awesome QB for the Cowboys and great analyst for CBS for the NFL. Yes he can play golf too. But please do not click on his name for the final golfer of your line-up. I am sure every bookmaker in the land will kindly accept your Romo bet this week…

Draftstars Value:

Hank Lebioda - $9,700

Julian Etulain - $9,400

Troy Merritt - $12,400

Denny McCarthy - $13,400
