Golf Daily Fantasy Tips: 2019 Wells Fargo Championship
Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow in North Carolina
After a one week break from PGA Tour DFS, we are back with a great field for the Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow in North Carolina. The course hosted the 2017 PGA Championship and still has the tough aspects from the event. The par is 71 and measures at 7,554 yards. Driving distance and strokes gained off the tee are very important at this event, and multiple golfers are on record stating how important off the tee game is around this place.
As with most courses, the signature “Green Mile” stretch on holes 16, 17 and 18 are one of the most difficult stretches in all of golf. With water on each hole, the meandering creek on the 18th is a cruel way to finish if you veer to the left off the tee.
14 out of the top 30 in the FedEx standings are here and with the PGA Championship in two weeks time, preparations for the field are starting to ramp up.
According to rotogrinders.com this week’s key statistics are as follows:
Contests lock at 2100 pm EST on Thursday evening.
Using the key statistics above - let’s see who is worthy of my picks this week:
Rory McIlroy - ($11,800 DK $24,900 DS) Yes I have picked the highest priced golfer on the slate but will it'll be worth the cash for Rory this week. Rory has won twice at Quail Hollow and has had numerous top ten finishes at this event. To back this history up, McIlroy is currently number 1 in strokes gained off the tee and we all know that he can bomb if off the tee. Lot of boxes ticked and with the PGA championship approaching, our boy Rory is primed for this one.
Webb Simpson - ($9,700 DK $22,500 DS) If you have read my DFS article on the site on the 101 for DFS golf, I mentioned that players in their home state do go well. Simpson is actually a club member of Quail Hollow and a resident of the area. So he knows the course backwards, and with T16 at the Heritage and still riding the T5 at the Masters, Simpson is a safe high end pick.
Jason Kokrak - ($8,700 DK $21,700 DS) As each week goes by it's one week closer that Kokrak is going to make a name for himself and win on the tour. Has just played exceptional and consistent golf and has not missed a cut since October 2018. Sure the “Moz” is on him now to not make the weekend cut, but he's still cheap on DK to consider in all lineups. Kokrak is 5th in the field for SG Total and 5th in the field for SG on approach.
Peter Malnati - ($6,700 DK $12,000 DS) - We've also looked at the value plays so we can get McIlroy into our lineups. Malnati pops out straight away with an impressive recent form. 23rd at the Valero and 16th at the Heritage (you can include 9th at the Zurich last week as well) means we have a nice “scrub” to plug in. Top ten for Strokes gained in putting in the field this week.
Nate Lashley - ($6,200 DK $8,700 DS) - Yes this is a really low priced golfer, but if Nate can make the weekend then happy days for us. Lashley was a T8 at the Puerto Rico Open earlier this year but missed the next two cuts in March. Currently ranked 18th in the field this week for SG Tee to Green, 15th for Driving accuracy in the field and remarkably 5th in the field of bogey avoidance. Silly cheap on both sites but we need Lashley to play well to back up the stats.
Hank Lebioda - $12,500
Harold Varner - $14,600
Adam Schenk - $13,400
Josh Teater - $8,800
