UCL 2018/19 DFS Lineup Tips: Semi-finals
UEFA Champions League action resumes mid-week with the first leg of both semi-finals scheduled for kick off. As there usually is, there’s been a quite a few bizarre results along the way which has led to the final four teams being Barcelona, Liverpool, Ajax, and Tottenham.
The two UCL games scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday morning include:
Tottenham vs Ajax (Wednesday 5am AEST)
Barcelona vs Liverpool (Thursday 5am AEST)
Below, we’ve provided our best team for the 12K DraftKings contest that kicks off on Wednesday morning at 5am (AEDT) and concludes on Thursday morning at 7am.
The number one thing you need to think about here is who’s most likely going to keep a clean sheet. Of these four games, we believe the best selection available is:
M. ter Stegen (BAR $5.5K) – Hard to look past the Barcelona keeper here in ter Stergen. We expect it to be a defensive first leg against Liverpool with both powerhouse clubs not wanting to go behind early.
When selecting defenders you’re pretty much going in with same mindset as when selecting goalkeepers. Meaning you primarily just want players that are going to keep a clean sheet, with secondary thought given to those who can pick up assists or the odd goal.
Our best defensive picks for this slate are:
N. Semedo (BAR $4.1K) – The first of two Barcelona full-backs in our team is Semedo. He comes in at a discount price and can certainly score well above his price tag.
Jordi Alba (BAR $5.3K) – The other defender from Barcelona that we’ve gone with is Jordi Alba. He’s been a mainstay in their back four for a number of years now and is more than capable of picking up an assist or two.
K. Trippier (TOT $5.1K) – To diversify our defence a little we’ve gone with Trippier from the Spurs. He’s their best scoring defender and regularly has score involvements with either a goal or an assist. We fancy his chances of a big score at home in this slate.
Most of the best midfield or forward options at DraftKings are dual position, meaning you can select them in either spot, which is why we’ve opted to group them together here.
Our midfield/forward picks for this slate are:
Dele Alli (TOT $5.7K) – Without Harry Kane in the line-up we expect Dele Alli to lift his game a touch. He hasn’t been at his brilliant best for much of the season but is more than capable of performing on the big stage.
C. Eriksen (TOT $7.6K) – Likewise with Alli, we expect a big performance from arguably the Spurs best player in Eriksen. The Danish international also takes a lot of their set pieces which is extremely valuable in this format.
F. Llorente (TOT $6.6K)
The Spurs number 9 has changed around a bit since Harry Kane went down with an injury, but we like Llorente’s chances of getting a decent run here. Make sure you check out the team sheets prior to finalising your team with this pick.
L. Messi (BAR $9.8K) – Needing no introduction, Messi is underpriced at $9.8K here. He may be the most expensive player in the slate, but that’s more than justified with how dangerous he is.
